Keep the Rent Low

Galaga, but the swarm is rent hikes and the bosses are luxury condos with developer escorts. They fly in, they form up, they dive. You're the tenant on the roof with a blick, and the plan is simple: the worse the block looks, the lower the rent. Rent starts at $800. Keep it there by any means.

AD walk · W/ jump · Space, J or left click fire the blick (straight up) — it reloads itself when the clip runs dry. Same controls as The Block. The Blick meter is your clip: 7 rounds (semi-auto — tap to fire), then it auto-reloads (about a second). After every regular wave (not bonus stages) the corner store offers Backup (full heal, always in stock) plus three random perks: Switch, Extendo Mags, J's, Quick Hands, Kevlar, Double Tap, Trey Way, Homing, Dual Wield, Big Body, AC Unit, Junk Car, Tagged Up, Section 8, Condemned, Block Party, One-Star Review, Hood Watch, Cousin's Plug. The swarm flies in, settles into formation, then peels off and dives at you — rent hikes ($), late fees (⚠), developers (🏗) and luxury condos (🏢, two hits, dive with escorts). Shooting a diver is double points. A diver that gets past you to the street raises rent +$20 to +$50 depending on who it is (then it loops back up); hit $2,000 and you're priced out. The trick: the worse the block looks, the lower the rent. Combo milestones (×5/×10/×15) make the news, shooting the helicopter, cop car or jet makes the news, dropping a boss (-$200) makes the national news. A perfect bonus stage (-$150), a wave with nothing landing (Block On Lock, -$60), gold ★ elites (-$20) and leaving a diver on the curb (-$5) all tank the property value. Their aimed eviction notices — and getting bodied by a diver — take a heart. Every 3rd wave is a challenging stage: they just stream through, 100 each, +1000 for all 24. Watch for the DEVELOPER HELICOPTER.
